So after being on here on got curious an called my truck only has 3.55 gears is it worth it to do any more performance mods or lift it with such low gears. I know lifting it with bigger tires would probable cause it to really struggle. I was going to keep doing performance mods chip, headers and such but now Im wondering if its worth it. So thoughs guys what can these gears do?

There are 09-10 guys running mid 13's even with 3.55's. For a 2012, your best bet as far as performance mods is a tq converter, headers, exhaust behind the headers, cold air intake, and ported throttle body. The converter and headers are going to show the biggest gains, so I would start with those first.

Bigger tires is going to be tough with the 3.55's though, so I would think hard on that one before lifting it.

I would say no it's not worth it at this time as the cost would be about $2k, and the highest you can go is 3.92 as its a 4x4 and I've never heard of 4.10 factory gears for anything other than the RT, which is never 4x4, so they'd have no front gears (no aftermarket support available yet). Also, there is no tuner available for the new rams also, but we all hope that changes soon!

390hp. You'll be fine with any reasonable tire size. I had 3.55's in a '75 Blazer with 38" tires and the slightly modified 350 didn't put out anywhere near the hemi power, plus backed by a 3 speed auto instead of a 6 speed to multiply gear ratios...

Funny how quick we get used to modern power and forget that you'd have to heavily modify a big block to get the hp and torque of today's hemi. You'd have **** the bed for 390hp out of a small block in the late 70s/early 80s pickups.

If I were you id trade it in and get 3.92 gears!

Really? I mean I have 37's with 3.55 gears. I have no problem getting around. Hell I run people sometimes and kick their ass. So you being bummed about having 3.55 gears, you shouldnt.

3.55's arent a problem from a roll. Biggest downfall to them is off the line, but that can be overcome with a quality tq converter. Also, the 4th gens seem to react much better to the 3.55's than the 3rd gen trucks did. I wouldnt let 3.55's keep anyone from modding their truck.

I have no problem with my 3.55 gears and 35" tires. It is not the quickest off the line, but I did not buy a sports car. The truck will really surprise you from a rolling start. Not to mention it gets better mileage.

Sooo Hemi450hp what kind of tq converter you recommend for someone with the 4th gens? I'm planning on towing and I don't race or nothing like that so what's you got.

The converter is the same on both the 3rd and 4th gens. If you tow, then a 2600 stall is where we would set you up. This will still show great gains down low without building heat while towing.

My 09 had 3.55s and I ran with 8" of lift and 37s. With just a CAI, mufflex and tuner, I got 13 mpg in the city and 16 mpg on roadtrips under 70 mph. I also towed 4-5k pounds and had plenty of pulling power.

If a different truck isn't affordable right now, I would still lift the one you have if its something you would like to do

It won't be as nice as with the 3.92's, but you would be fine. Hell with 3.92's and 37's isn't ideal either, guys want to go with 4.56's. You won't hurt anything, especially if it is just a pavement queen.

Just picked up my truck the other day. 5.7 CCsport 3.55 lsd as far as I can tell theres not much difference. My friend has the identical truck to mine only with 3.92 lsd and if we take off from a stop he will pull me by about 1 truck legnth. If we are going about 30 I will get them jump and stay ahead. it makes no difference who hits the gas first the results are always the same.

I have yet to see anyone with actuial comparisons between the two except for everyone saying that the 3.92 is better

Oh and around town I average 1.6mph better then him and its all city and i dont take it easy, and im only at 750miles

Just my opinion
