spark plug gap?

Has anyone known of any issues with the factory gap setting on the factory plugs? My old Ecoboost, each gap was different when I pulled them, and none of them were right. What's the gap supposed to be? 2014 5.7

Hi. According to owners manual, the gap should be .043 . As for having gaps of all ranges on previous vehicle, strange. Maybe never gapped before installation??

My chevy cruze 1.4t was supposed to be gapped at .032 but when i pulled them they were at .020

It's always worth a check, it's free. Just don't break a plug and lose part of the ceramic in the cylinder! Definitely did that on my old Ecoboost, didn't know it, and lost 10% compression in that cylinder... I'm just to a point where I wanna be as efficient as possible before adding anymore bolt ons.

Plug Gap/ replacement

Yes, to what was said about breaking a plug. If you are going to be changing plugs, invest in a "GOOD" plug socket. Snap-On, Mac, etc. As hard as some of the plugs are to access, just saving the hassle and maybe repair bill for one broken plug will certainly pay for it. Second, most mfg's now suggest replacement at 100k. Heard a good thought about the replacement interval. If you have ever attempted to remove a plug after 100k, I'm sure that you've noticed that it's very difficult to remove. Suggest maybe 70k. Also, an older plug with a gap .010 or more over specs will effect performance, starting, mpg, and also be harder on the ignition coil as it has to work harder to jump the extra gap. Just some thoughts.

My stock plugs were set to .041, replacements came out of the box at .041, vehicle specs call for .043.

And don't forget to put a drop of copper based anti-seize on the threads of the new ones before install. Makes taking them out later a breeze with less chance of breaking.
