Today while checking my owner's manual it states to replace the Hemi 5.7 spark plugs every 32K miles on my 2012. Has anybody gone longer without replacing the plugs & by how much? What type of plugs do these Motors use? Is there a longer lasting plug for this year Hemi?
Thanks:burnout:

in the 03 that we have we went upto 100k without changing them. but i highly recommend you change them at the 30k. best plugs to use is the oem.

I went 36,000 miles before changing mine. I just drive my truck back and forth to work. Dont do any towing or anything. I did notice my truck runs a lot better with the new plugs in. Picked up a little fuel mileage as well. I will go the same mileage before changing the spark plugs again. I used the NGK OEM plugs.

My truck went 61k miles before getting changed. That is solely because I got the truck at 49k and changed it at the appropriate time. Problem is the person before me felt the need for only oil and gas and nothing else in the truck.

Lesson learned from that one.

My owner's manual indicates 100k mile spark plug change.

That was a change that happened with the 2014's.

All previous 3rd and 4th gen Hemi's other than SRT 8's were every 30k I believe.

My '13 owners manual says the HEMI is to nhave plugged changed every 30k miles. The 4.7L engine is 100k miles.

So, I guess the Hemi's didn't switch to 100K plugs until '14.

They switched it on 2014 trucks, they don't use copper plugs they use some other material can't remember what it is off the top of my head though. So they last longer, also cost a ton more.

Bottom line, you can run 50-60k on the stock plugs, but you'll continue to lose performance and MPG the further you go.

Similar, you can run dino oil for 15,000 miles too, but why?!

They went to platinums in the 2014 and the jury's still out on if you can run in the pre-14s.
Some say yes, some say no. Some say run iridiums

I have 45K on my stock plugs. Bought the truck used. Been fine so far, will probably change them at 50K though. Just cause.

So is this the same for the 4.7L? My owners manual said every 30K for just the top plugs.. I'm sure they haven't been changed. Just bought my truck with 36K miles. How essential is this?

@smokeycoon

Depends if you consider these factors essential or not?
I dont get what the big deal is, the (coppers) are dirt cheap, its not hard to change them ( just a PITA) and in return you get better mpgs and performance, 2 things that everyone wants
And 30000 miles is alot, not many do that in a year...
