Stock Y pipe is garbage!

Anyone else's stock Y look like this? It seems super smushed for one cylinder bank. Looks like I'm going to get it cut and do "true duals" back to an X pipe.
Any thoughts?

This isn't news to any of us, we've been ******** about the ****** oem y-pipe for over a decade and it's why the magnaflow y-pipe is so popular.

Will the MagnaFlow Y from the 3rd gens work on the newer 6.4’s? I bought one for my 06 5.7 and never installed it. My brother just picked up a 17 3500 with the 6.4 and I was thinking about giving it to him.

I had mine replaced on my older truck. What a huge difference. I wasn't in the throttle as much.. was nice.

Is it a factory replacement fit or have to be put on and cut by a shop? Didn’t know if there was a lot of cutting involved or it came in lengths to hit factory joints??

one of these coming weekends I will be getting under mine and doing some temp retrofitting to become a true dual system with a X-pipe.. Need to replace my muffler due to part failure.... seems like a good time to modify it.... Just wish I had the skill to tig weld.

I will be cutting the y pipe back and adding in curves as needed to get two 2-1/2" pips side by side and go from there. shooting for this weekend.
if pipe and v-band clamps get here in time

It’s gotta be welded in by a shop and some new pipe bends.

Hmmm just a question why'd you go this route rather than getting the bolt on Carven Progressive/Competitor?

This replaced my weld in Magnaflow and was about half the price of the bolt on kit (parts/installation) in this setup for me anyways. Not sure what others will pay. This was the most cost effective route.

That Magnaflow Y Pipe is about $35 or so, and most shops will install it for about $50 from what I have seen. I am on my third RAM Truck, and my third Y-Pipe!

My buddy owns an exhaust shop. Free work for me. 2 y pipes for $32 a piece from Matt and the muffler was $112 shipped.

I guess I'll find out if the 6.4 hemis are as bad. I having mine cut out and having duals ran with a dual in dual out custom built spintech muffler.
