Oh ok, he is prolly just reading then. I bet he starts posting when he is done, which would probably sometime near the year of our lord 2020. I used to be able to go back in this thread and pull up info for new guys, no way I can do that anymore. This thread is a monster.

At the risk of being burned for not reading all 818 pages :), what should I be looking for. In my next OC? I have only run Pup 5w20 and Mobil 1 in my 5.7, but and I prefer pup but that's being tough to find.

Mobil1 seems to give a bit of a tick, so I am open to the collective wisdom of oils or oil additives that I can access that will help with the tick.

You can get PuP on Amazon, or some guys have Luck ordering through Wal-Mart

1rst off , step up to a 30 wt oil , PUP , Mobile 1 or even PYB .

If you do in fact have the lifter tick then high moly ppm is much Prefered , I'd use Redline 5W-30 & a quality filter such as the RP 10-48 .

just my .02

WI: I'm curious was this (bit of a tick) present with the PUP 5W-20 as well?

With all due respect; I made a statement which I still stand by, only for the sniping and marginalizing to start.

Thanks for the suggestion to read this thread, however I too have been down this road before and the results and the volume of this thread precludes finding nuggets even if they exist.

Immediately misconstruing, cherry-picking and attempts to put up (strawman) arguments that don't relate to what I wrote and to imply a (any) Hemi engine is on borrowed time if one does not use what is being described...I've got all the answers I need (818 pages tells the f'n story).

What would be an interesting question would be what is the "Hemi tick", more importantly how does it affect engine serviceability :^D

Carry on...

When I first got the truck I poured over the forum posts here and drove to the middle of nowhere to get the pup 5w20. I thought the engine ran great with virtually no tick. The Mobil 1 oil changes seem to generate more tick, but that might be in my head.

Interesting comments on the 5w30, I suppose somewhere in the now 819 pages the worry about the mds and use of anything other than 5w20 has been debunked.

Debunked ha ha to say the least , many have ran 40 wt with zero mds issues , you don't have to go back far to see that . I've ran 40wt oil for over 6k with no issues Sir.

Appreciate the advice, 5w30 is much easier to source!
