Here is just an example of something that really really pi$$es me off with Amazon.

A couple of weeks ago I added Schaeffers 9000 5W–30 to my Dash Buttons for easy fast ordering! Price with Prime was $9.75 Qt.

Today I login to order 2 quarts for my winter oil change.
Plan was to order 2 quarts every month Until I get 7qts in my hand.

Today the prime price shows to be $12.89 for that very same Qt.

Very aggravating!

Just might have to break down and order a full case which is 12 quarts not six like most cases are now shipped. $85.09 = $7.09 qt

I ended up doing that with redline 0W 40. Now I can just sit and wait for another good deal.

Finally changed the oil today. Redline is in, Royal Purple filter is on. Talk about a mess with the filter location! I used a plastic zip lock bag over the filter and found it easier to access from underneath the front of the truck. Still managed to make a little mess. I believe it was said to give the oil a few miles to see how it helps with the tick. Initial start up sounds around the same as the junk oil that is as in it before. We will see if a change in cold start up sounds tomorrow and planing a 300 minute round trip this weekend, see if anything to report in after the trip.

A good 700-1000 IMO to hear a noticeable difference. And I would give it a full OCI meaning do one OCI and then do the used oil analysis on the second OCI to see some true differences. This is mostly true with any oil....not always though.

Just to clear things up: I know most within this thread use\run a RP filter. I have four of them in my cabinet in the garage just waiting to be used on my RAM.
I also have three more Fram ultra's waiting to be run as well.

With that said I do not care nor have I ever cared what everybody else is running for an oil filter. I have no agenda in that direction.

What I want to say is Many do not believe in an oil filter being used/run more than 3000 to 5000 miles.

I posted One more video of 100 or more showing that the Fram ultra can easily with stand 10,000 to 15,000 miles of service and still look perfectly fine when cut open after use.
I don't give 2 Hoots if others don't run these Synthetic Media Filters longer then 5K miles.

I just want to show that if you have to U can with NO worries!

Wow that's awesome ! I've ran my filters for 2ea oci's over the years . Years ago I use to cut the filters open , haven't done that in a while though.
I've seen 12 k on a synthetic filter with my own eyes and imo it could've gone on for many more miles ...

Can anyone tell me if the Big 3; Redline, Amsoil SS or PUP are dexos approved? Will run the Dino oil for the first 3k on my new rig, after that switch to a full Good Quality full synthetic. Haven't decided witch brand to go with yet but the manual states it has to be dexos approved.
And I couldn't find the RP oil filter for my new truck :(
Found the Mobil 1 semi-synthetic media oil filter but it was a tinny filter, dosent seem normal to put a small oil filter on it but I could be wrong. Anyone have any input on the smaller oil filters?

The new hemi's do take a very small filter. Its not unusual though. Other v8's use the same exact one.

As for the mobil 1. It will do fine and i would run it if its all i could find. Is it the M1 EP? If so it is a good filter. Not as good as the FU, RP or amsoil... but still good.

The oil websites will tell you the certs that each oil has.

Hope this is helpful

Not sure what the EP M1 is but I'll look into it, thanks for the other oil filter options :favorites13:

Redline- Recommended for API SN/SM/SL/SJ/SH/SG/CF and ACEA A3/B3/B4, GM dexos1®...

Amsoil SS- 5W-30 (ASL): ... GM dexos1™

PUP- GM dexos1™ Certification (SAE 0W-20, SAE 5W-20, SAE 5W-30)

all three say ok for dexos1.

Mobils Flagship brand oils! ---> Extreme Vooo Dooo!

This $hit will not Wash Off! Wear Rubber Gloves!

I was referring to the filter.

https://mobiloil.com/en/oil-filters/performance-oil-filters

But the oil is supposed to be good to. Know nothing about it besides it is a good chance it is a GTL oil.

You seriouse about the not wash off thing or was that a joke that went over my head?

EDIT: im pritty sure the M1 EP filter is a synthetic blend with celulose.

Burla, my truck has very light duty use, probably compared to most. Haul a little mulch from time to time and weekly trips to the dump. Very seldom tow anything. Mostly short trips where my oil temp even in the summer just breaks over 200. Right now I'm running 5/20, if I were to 5/30 would that effect my oil temp? I don't want it to run any cooler for now, especially with fall and winter coming, don't know how long it will take to get warmed up then to get rid of the condensation.

M.O.

Thicker oil may take slightly longer to get up to temp but once up it technically should be slightly higher temp and hold it longer.

All depends on the oils too. Some shed it better than others,

What say you burla?

Right now I'm running Castrol edge gold bottle and even with 95 degree heat I have to take about a 20 Mile run on the freeway to get oil temp up to 220. I don't know that I want my oil to run any cooler.

I showed no real difference in temps from cold start up to operating temps while using 5W-20 -FF to 5W-30 to 0W-40.
I posted many pics though they are a few pages back.

0W-20 was interesting (Seemed to have the same viscosity as H2O).
The 5.7L was a noisy mess while running this Oil.

I have also read if your only going by the digital dash readings? beware those readings are not totally accurate.

Any oil temps between 190-200 will evaporate any moisture within the oil given a 15-20min interval.

The only time my oil temps reach 220 or higher is during the long road trips.
My average oil temps average around 195 to 200°F.
