What is everyone running? I have ordered a cooler Milodon thermostat to go along with my custom tune. Not planning to delete the clutch fan until after the PT Warranty is up (40k miles left). What temp T-Stat are you running, what were the results?

You can have 185 degree coolant temps with the stock clutch fan, these trucks have excellent radiator air flow.
Take out all of your grille shutters except for your top 2 and bottom 2 which prevents a check engine light.
Combined with a Jet 180 thermostat my temps in 90 degree weather never goes over 185 while cruising. Sitting in traffic it goes up to about 195-ish and drops fast when I start rolling again. It's been a year with no CEL.

My application is a 6 Speed Ram, so no active grille shutters.

Muscleram, i've heard you can remove the stock clutch fan and the go with a cooler thermostat and a tune to make it all work, and the stock E-fan will keep you cool. This is not advised for any towing applications, but regular driving i have heard that it works. You can also add the E-Fan from the v-6 engine (as i understand it this is plug and play) for additional cooling.

Been thinking about a 180 myself and have Sean send me a new 91 HF tune.

Question is, it gets cold here in Wisconsin in the winter is a 180 going to give me less cab heat????

We have been removing the clutch fan on these trucks since the Hemi was first released in the truck in 2003. There is nothing to worry about as long as you have the cooler thermostat installed and have a tuner that allows you to control what temp the efan turns on at.

From some of the other threads, I'm given to understand you don't need the tuner, especially with the stock thermostat. Replace the OEM AC fan with the V6 fan and remove the clutch fan. At least on the 09-12 models.

What is the purpose of the cooler thermostat?

Will this work if I am towing a 7-8000lbs payload?

You sir don't want to remove your stock clutch fan if you're towing that much, but you can run a 180 T-stat though.

I removed my clutch fan, reprogrammed my efan, and installed a 180 t-stat from moes and my truck runs cooler than it did before. haven't towed anything yet though but I think ive heard some say they still tow just fine, just keep an eye on your temps

Thank you, I had a suspicion that was going to be the case
