I purchased my 14 sport with 3.21 gears and 8speed trans.....I'm debating going to 3.92 gears was thinking just to buying 3.92 used axles and just swapping the axles out the cost is about $1200 was wondering if anyone had any input in doing that as far as it being a worth while upgrade in regards to getting more power to the ground for faster 0-60 times

I'm a big fan of the 8sp with 3.92 gear combo...especially if you ever tow or race the truck. It will be much cheaper to replace the gears instead of the complete axle. We actually have the OEM 3.92's discounted to only $309 during our Black Friday sale right now.

I think he said axle"s" though , isn't it a bit more involved with a 4wd...... to the op, the 8spd 3:92 is a beast compared to the 3:21. I test drove both of them. If you can do it cost effectively it is definitely worth it. I'm sure Matt will help you through it.

I misread that thinking he was referring to just the rear axle.

OP, if you are 4wd, then the only option for the front is swapping the complete 3.92 front housing because Mopar does not sell the 2012+ front 3.92 ring/pinion separate.

Yes mine is 4wd may look into just swapping out the front with a used one and see if a rear re gear with labor is cheaper than a used rear axle.....my main question was is it worth it as far as gains anyone know the difference between 0-60 between a 3.21 vs 3.92 8 speed ?

I have no hard data for you, but I enjoyed the power to ground A LOT more with the 3:92's. just my own opinion though.

What he said....

I've driven both the 3.21 & 3.92 with lift kit & 35's & there is so much more power with the 3.92's.

I have a 2014 with the 3.21 open gear ratio. I bought 3.92 with anti spin and the front diff. I still have to swap them out, but I'll be curious because I also just bought and installed 37" tires.
