Okay so I just got my truck back from getting a set of jba shortys installed. And now it makes a ticking sound when I drive and it speeds up when I speed up. Is that normal?

Yup, Engines become way more noisy once headers are on :)

What gaskets did you use, read some of them are cheap and can blow out right away.
might double check to make sure none are blown.

Yeah, sounds like a possible exhaust leak. But headers do make a bit noise.

Yea, when I had my ARH long tubes installed a while back, there was a noticeable tick as well that is just loud enough that we thought there was a leak, however we went over them up and down and there were no leaks to be found. Headers are just plain loud in every sense.

Just curious, why did you not go with long tubes instead as they add much more power than shorties?

Yeah that's what I was thinking but you only really hear it around 2500 rpms or higher

That almost sounds like what i have going on. Did they get faster as the rpms went up?

Mainly the price. But I basically just got these to replace my warped manifold.

I couldn't get the ticking sound on video... the engine was too loud.

I just put my KOOKS on last week and where the header meets the Mid pipe all they gave we was clamps, and they leak. You have any leaks?

Yep as stated you are hearing Valvetrain noise through the Primaries. That's the reason I've never installed Longtubes on my 17' and don't know if I ever will. I have to deal with it on my Singlecab GM till we get the Turbo installed, Then I won't have to hear it anymore. As stated also, Wrapping the headers can help with the noise.
