It allows the enigne to spin up more before loading the transmission and moving the truck.

hence, more power/torque is available to move the truck

And yes, it will probably cause some warranty issues

it may lower but only by maybe 1 MPG, but the power it will 'enhance' would make you smile ear to ear. What it does it slip to a higher stall speed. Doesn't mean it won't move until it reaches that RPM, just slip more or flash to that stall speed.

I'd LOVE to have an Edge or Circle D 2600-2800....and rumor has it, they look identical to factory. So I dont think the naked eye thay can detect it's not factory.
I drove my '70 Chevy with 4.11's and 3500 stall daily.

The Edge converter looks factory. Only way a dealership would know you had it is if they cracked the converter open...and without reason to believe it is aftermarket, they arent going to take it that far.

Edge converters are $525 shipped and install is usually about $150-$250 depending on the shop you use.

Many guys with 2600 stall converters actually claim an increase in mileage as long as they keep their foot off the gas. That is hard to do though.

Depends on your mods. With basic boltons and no tuning, anything above a 2800 stall would be a waste. With custom tuning and a bigger cam, 2800-3000 is ideal.

So I was looking to do this myself but for somebody who are going to do some towing this will be okay putting in the 2600-2800 correct?

If you tow often, then you want to stay with a 2600. If you will only tow maybe once or twice a year, then you will be OK with a 2800.

I tow a boat regularly, so Id have to use the 2600-2800 one then ??

Someone needs to make a switch pitch converter for these, like the old GMs had.

At idle & under hard acceleration, it was triggered to stall at 2500-2600 rpm, but under steady cruising conditions, they dropped back down to stock (1600-1800 rpm).

Yes, if you tow regularly, then a 2600 is the way to go. Any higher, and it is just going to create excessive heat while towing. And dont think that a 2600 stall is a bad thing though. There have been many guys that dropped .3-.4 at the track with a 2600 stall. The key is designing the stall based on your other supporting mods. Having a 3200 stall converter on a stock truck is not going to show much of a gain because it is way too much rpm.
