Hey guys, the day after i bought my truck (09 Hemi 4x4 70k miles) I noticed that if you shift the truck into reverse immediately after start up it makes a grinding and as some have described ratcheting noice. It does it although not as noticeably any other time. The dealership has been pretty good and after speaking to the General manager they've agreed to check into/ replace any issues even though in KY they dont have to do anything.

I had an 07 2wd that did that pretty much from the day it was new. I put over 70,000 miles on it with no issues.

Well as much as everyone said its normal, the reverse drum was cracked and the torque converter was fried. Thank god the dealership covered the 2000 dollar bill

i mean mine is a 2012 and it does this. its not to bad, i just assume is the 1400 RPM shift out of park and into reverse that causes it. once the engine is at idle it doesnt do it no mo

Reverse was the first thing to go out on my Grand cherokee, ive heard that its usaully the first for most vehicles. Something to do with the extra pressures when in reverse

Shockingly no, not at all other than the occasional vibe. But with all the threads on here about random vibes through the gas petal i didnt know.
