Hello all. I have a 2012 with a little over 1100 miles on the clock and have noticed that when warm and idling in park the RPM's seem to dip rhythmically. Probably only about 25-30 RPM's but its enough to hear the exhaust note slightly change and the tech needle move. Bounces from about 625-600, if that. Doesn't matter if the AC is on or off, also it never happens when in gear. Idk if its my OCD setting in or not but I would hope a brand new motor would idle rock steady. Anybody else notice a slight flutter in park at idle?

Huh, i havent heard anything about this on the newer trucks... Maybe someone else knows. I would just take it to the dealer and let them handle it since its still under warranty

Yeah it's not a terrible idle swing but it's noticeable and not rock steady like it should be. Changes maybe 15-20 revs now that I think about it.

Actually my dad had this on his 09. He had it fixed by a local mechanic in less than a day it wasn't major.

I just started noticing this in my '12 (roughly 9K on the clock) since my last oil change. I'm thinking about switching to synthetic and gonna see if that solves it.

Same here. Mine can idle anywhere from about 725 down to just over 500. It's weird but doesn't seem to be causing any issues as of now.

Well that's good to hear its not uncommon. I know a little variance isn't anything to worry about and I'm sure the cam profile is a bit more aggressive. Just the first vehicle I've owned off the showroom floor lol.

Never had a car's RPM's stay "rock steady" when idling. Heck most factory RPM gauges aren't even senstitive enough to actually let you see the change. Completely normal.

Mine fluctuates a bit at idle. I just figured it was the MDS working, but I really don't know. If it shuts down half the cylinders when you don't need the power of all 8, idle seems like a great time to do it, after all.

I'm guessing its a pretty common deal. Docwagon the MDS isn't active at idle.

Leave the rock steady idle concerns to the german cars. My mom had a 4.2 liter v8 touareg, and it was rock steady at idle, got to watch it once on a digital reader and it was like +/-5 at most. You couldn't hear it, or see it on the tach.

My hemi on the other hand... lol like everyone elses, it moves around a bit.

all cars do this im sure. my friends 09 chevy does this and his bulldog GT shows it but his RMP gauge isnt acurate enough haha. we could just have 100% spot on RPM gauges
