I decided to install the 180 t-stat that I got last week, when I did, I noticed this:

the upper hose is rubbing on the V6 fan 'shroud'. time to install a new one, you can see where it's wearing into the hose.
Damn glad I saw this now.

My OEM fan does as well. I'm pretty sure it doesn't touch anything but after seeing that I'll definitely pop the hood and take a peek.

Mine has a mark but hasn't rubbed to much really....yet...

I'd have to go take a look at mine to be sure but maybe cutting a little bit off the t-stat end of the hose could stop this from happening?

How about a band or clamp around the hose somewhat loosely would that help?

for the time being, I used a piece of old floor mat, but when I get the new one in, I'm going to cut a decent sized piece of the old hose and zip tie it around that area on the hose.

Mine was doing the same thing so when I installed a 180 degree thermostat I twisted the hose a little on the thermostat housing re-clamped the hose and it moved it away from the fan shroud.

I also thought of trimming that rib a little with a dremel or maybe even a pair of lineman's pliers.
I am awaiting the replacement hose now.

Any update on this? My TYC fan just arrived today and I plan on doing the install on Friday. I'm thinking about going ahead and grinding away a generous portion of that rib with my dremel to give the hose some clearance prior to installation. The portion where your hose is rubbing is the very same spot my hose rests along the top of the fan shroud so I know I'll have to do something. Thanks in advance!

I installed the new hose and used an old piece of rubber strip and zip tied it to the hose on that spot. I know it's not pretty, but it is effective. when it warms up, I plan to trim that rib down some.
Glad driver's saw this, I hate to think this will leave you stranded with a blown hose.

Thanks for the update! I think I'm going to wind up taking the dremel approach.

sorry, forgot to post this pic.

A few weeks ago when I was up at Dave's we tossed this on there. Working great. Some old weatherstripping from something. :D
