Weird situation developing for guys not paying attention to syn thread. Check there for more info on possibly bad drain back valves

This is normal looking anti drain back valve from a 2013 dated filter RP 10-48

This is an anti drain back valve that looks to be installed backwards from a 2015 dated filter RP 10-48

Wow really glad I saw this I was going to change mine today so I guess I'll be checking the filter first I'll post up some pics weather it's right or wrong (bad) filter

Definitely!That's what they're there for.
Bought a GMC years ago from a guy I work with.This guy was **** about looking after this truck,but when I got it home(with a new oil change by him) the thing would knock/rattle on cold starts.Replaced the filter he just installed with the proper one with a check valve and no more noise on cold start-up. :favorites13:

You see all of the oil guys saying not right. Too funny one guy said he would never use a RP filter but didn't say anything about the Amsoil, lol. Typical BITOG posts, brand loyalties and biases over common sense.

FWIW, neither RP or Amsoil make filters,, RP is made by Champ Labs, who also make about (16) sixteen other labels:

Champion Laboratories Inc.

Champ and what used to be Honeywell Consumer Products (Fram) are both owned by Rank Group today.

None of my (9) Rank Group ADBV's look like that

Ok so my new RP filters are all wrong and check out the way the filter is on autozones website look close if my page attachment works that is Royal Purple/Oil Filter 10-48 at AutoZone.com

This intrigued me so I started looking at all oil filters and the m1 filters, stp filters, delco, Bosch, are all the same way what gives I'm really curious to check wix filters

I'm kinda starting to think the same way starting to think the pic of the one from 2013 might be an old design and the way they are now is the new design. I just can't see all these other filters being the same way no matter who makes them I'm sure one of the manufactures would step up and say we have a problem But then again what do I know I'm just confused

For clarity the first picture I posted above was a different P/N , no the 10-48 used in our 13+ 5.7 hemi ...

Understood me and the wife are headed to Wally World in a few I'm going to look over the mopar one as well as others I think in the sun thread someone posted his brand new 15 rams factory first change filter and it was the exact same configuration as the RP so I for sure am calling RP tomorrow and doing some research myself just so I can be 100% sure I'm not putting any inferior parts especially something directly involved with the motor on my truck.

I went out and checked if the amsoil filter from my oil change last week was still in the shop trash can.

Sure enough, and it looks just like the others posted.
