After my "mishaps" with the EB motors, I spent last weekend installing 4:56 gears and an auburn locker. I also had my tune revised after sending in my logs, and I added p305's on the rears. This shut my buddy up finally. Murdered his f150 tremor and that damn explorer;)

4.56 & Auburn limited slip in my RC. I like it so much, I'm gonna put an Auburn limited slip up front this coming January as well. Gotta wait for the Christmas bonus so I can afford it!

That's what I'm talking about, put the work in and got some sweet payback. I'm in the same boat as you were a few weeks ago after my upgraded VB work turned out to be a disaster. Feeling disappointed and butt hurt right now after two weekends at the track watching my 60 take a nose dive. I think the high stall circle D will get things back to normal:naughty:
Congratulations, I know it feels good :favorites13:

I forgot to ask, what are p305's? What tire is that?

I'm confused, 1more. I thought you were running 4.56s when you had the EcoBoost mishap.

No, I was running 3:92's. I've had 4:56's before, but like an ass- I went back for no good reason at all. Now I'm sticking with the 4:56, since I find it the best gear for my RC with a 6 spd. Now it's time for a nice stall.

Choose your stall speed carefully. I know a guy that put 456 in and when he added a 2800-3000 stall the ass end would bust lose on street tires very easy. On the track with slicks it it would roll but on street tires on the street spinning ain't winning.

gotcha. I was having a hard time, thinking you got your back side handed to you, while running 4.56s. Good Job!

Gears are so vital in the 5/6 speed trucks. In my not so humble opinion, with the tall tires that come on these trucks, 4.10s should have been standard. 4.56s should have been an option. Is it the big numbers that scare people off? I remember when I told buddys that I was going to put 4.10s in my truck, they'd say things like: "What cha gunna do? Go drag racing?" Noo, I'm just sick and tired of my engine moaning, and lugging constantly. I always say, my 4.10s aren't low. They're correct. I still get good gas mileage. The truck and I are both a lot happier.

Nobody puts 4.56s in, and then even bothers to check fuel mileage, but I'll bet that gear would do just fine also.

The thing is, the 6 speeds these trucks have are just 5 speeds with a 2nd prime being called the "extra" gear! Most of these other guys with the Fords and Chevys have TRUE 6 speed transmissions and do not carry a 33" tall tire from the factory like Dodge does, so it's more common to see 4.56s swapped then the others. When you get to the 8 speeds, the 3.21s feel like 4.10s from the 6 speeds so it's a big difference in gearing. I agree they should have had the 4.10s standard, but then again they aim for higher fuel mileage. Horsepower may sell trucks but so does fuel mileage...

Actually, these things are 4 speeds.

I have an old thread laying around here somewhere detailing the particulars of the last fairly long run I made with my truck. 19.58 mpg, hand calculated, up and down hills, head wind, tail wind, thick ol Indiana air, stop lights, construction, motorcycle on back.....

It's marketing, and incorrect preconceived notions that dictated 3.21s and 3.55s.

4.10s should have been standard. 4.56s should have been an option.

Eek, that scares me. I'm at 2k rpms at 77mph with my 3.55's and 6sp. Yeah it's kind of a dog if I drive conservatively (which I usually do), and 90% of my miles are highway, so I like the ability to cruise at 75mph at the rpms that I'm currently at. Not a lot of hills around me, so the truck never has to downshift with normal driving. If I have 1k in the bed and I hit a solid hill, then maybe.

I went 355 to 410's and really like it, I don't do a lot of hwy driving tho. I usually cruze at 80 at 2900RPS. And with our 6 speeds a high stall is always an option. Your 355 with and 2800-3000 stall would be very nice.

Typo sorry, that's 2400 RPM's at 80MPH with 410's.
