Run at least 89 octane in the Hemi. 87 will hurt performance and fuel economy

I've been using 87 pretty much every fill up since new...now I've put 89 in once in a blue moon and have used octane booster occasionally...haven't really noticed any issues in 7 years and 93,000 miles.

I've been running 87 not even thinking about it. I was reading on another forum that someone had just bought a 09 pw or regular 2500 with the hemi and was running 87 and said it is running like crap and pinging all of a sudden and thought it might be due to him running 87 and maybe the previous owner had run 89 or 91. So I am just curious what everyone is running

Always run 89 in mine. Heard too many horror stories about popping rings off the tops of pistons in the HEMIs from running 87 and knocking.. It's all hear-say but for the extra 10¢ a gallon, I'm not taking the chance.

my favorite is when you tell people you run the highest octane they flip out because how expensive it is. its only like $10 more or so to fill it.

Actually about the shell thing not sure where they get there gas from but i know most refineries like sunoco produce gas for multi companies. So just because the sign says texaco dont mean your getting texaco gas. But like i said not sure but shell i know sunoco, texaco, conoco make gas for different companies

Stock, mine barely ran on 87, grumbled a lot when on 89 so I run 91.

90 / 91 whatever the premium pump is here (yay high elevation).

I've always run premium in everything I've owned. Never had any ill effects.
