Might start a fire but I'm looking to do my first oil change to my truck and dont know what to go with. Thinking AMS Oil. Any good or bad experiences with a certain brand?

And yes, I am going to use full synthetic.

Thanks!

I run Mobil 1 5W-30 with a Mann ML 1006, but have/will run Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 and Hastings LF 110 (all of which I have stocked up on).

If you feel like wasting a few years of your life, go check out Bobistheoilguy. Huge forum dedicated to this question (among other oil questions).

In the end, here's my two cents: don't overthink it. Any name-brand oil will work. If you want to keep your warranty, 5w-20 is probably a good weight to stick with. Keep to the recommended change intervals (or sooner) and call it good.

As for filters, I try to stay away from super cheapo ones. The more expensive filters tend to be good for longer change intervals, but if you don't do the longer intervals, no real reason to pay the extra for the filters designed for longer changes.

Then you have people like me. We overdo it, because it gives us a little more peace of mind. I use Pennzoil Ultra and Wix XP filters, changing my oil every 6000-7000 miles.

Do what gives you peace of mind. Don't overthink it.

Nothing wrong with Amsoil! Run it with full confidence! Like stated above use a very good synthetic media filter too compliment that robust oil.

Don't By NO means Forget & Neglect that air filter!

Mobil 1 5x20 fully synthetic with a K&N filter every 6000km

I like the K&N filter because of the 17mm nut on the end. Makes changes much easier.

Red Line 5w20 and Royal Purple 10-48. Had Mobil 1 5w20 and same RP filter before that.

Luckily for me, both our daily drivers take 5w20 so they both run Mobil1 5w20 and Mobil1 filters.

On my Hemi I ran either Mobil 1 or Royal Purple 5w-30 and a Royal Purple filter. On the Cummins it's Rotella T6 and the Fleetguard 16035.

I use the Pennzoil Platinum they recommend and a full size Ford Wix filter on a remote mount.

Amsoil oil & filter. Their "Amsoil Garage" is a great way to track all of your maintenance on everything you have with a motor as well. I have sold two vehicles and printed out all my maintenance records for the new owners-- they loved it.
