I run 89 in my truck. Never ran anything else so couldn't tell you if it's any better. In the owners manual it says 89 recommended 87 is okay.

I run 91, but only cause I'm tuned.

If your truck isn't customed tuned, I would stick with 89

I just use regular whether it is 85 87 I don't care because in 360 miles it is gone no matter what and that is usually every other day or up to 3 times in a day

I know 89 is recommended so that is what I'll be going with. Just got my '16 new and need to fill up for the first time tomorrow.

I run 91 octane from Shell.

1. I live where 91 (not 93) exists.
2. Shell is what I've found to be the best gas for this engine in this area. I've tried Chevron and Valero. Valero was terrible...dropped to 16-17 mpg. Chevron was ok and resulted in 18mpg (worked the best in my old WRX). Shell results in 18-19 mpg. I have not tried Exxon yet. It really does make a difference in MPG and performance.
3. I am basically stock. No tune. With a '16 Ram 1500 CC Longhorn 4x4.

Update: Mobil runs really well also.

89, or 91 when I'm feeling frisky. Have both 89 and 91 tunes.

I run 89 octane every tank. When I know I'm going out of town on a trip I normally fill up with 91 octane.

Each fill up I will normally add 5oz of TCW3 or MMO.
Basically @ 640:1 ratio.

Running 89 with a tune. Maybe I'm crazy, but my rig runs better on Mobil then anything else.

I rarely let mine get below half a tank and usually run 89 but have used 87 on occasion and never had any problems with it. As for brands I use Shell 90% of the time.

The octane ratings aren't a scam. The modern vehicles don't ping as easily because when the computer senses the low octane in your tank is reduces the timing to prevent detonation.

I'm running a HF 93 octane tune and use BP 93 octane fuel exclusively.

I use 91 (premium) here in Wisconsin. Only because it's 100% ethanol free.

I run 91 with water/methanol injection, which puts me at about a 116 octane :naughty:

Of course, I'm running a supercharger though

91 octane from Chevron, with HF tune.

I've used 91 from AM/PM (BP fuel) and it ran like ****.

When I'm home and just driving around the small town I use 87. Ethanol or not it doesn't make a difference in my mpg. When I drive to school running 80 on the interstate I fill up at a VP racing with 89 or 91 no ethanol. This station get their gas from a local oil company. I get right at 18 mpg using those and when I did get gas with ethanol I sat around 14 mpg
