I get about 100 miles per gallon, pulling my 10,000 pound trailer up mountains at 80 miles per hour. Once in a while i have to pull over and drain a little fuel out.
However every magazine article ive ever read says a truck like mine gets about 15.5 mpg over all.
WTF how? I drive a lot on the highway, maybe 65% during the week. I can usually hit 18.2 mpg if I don't do too much city driving on the weekend, but on average I'd say 17.5 - 18.2 mpg. I do drive 60 - 70 mph, but I'm really easy in the city with braking and acceleration. I live in a relatively flat area. How are you getting 18 mpg in the city?
Edit: I feel the need to clarify that I hand calc my numbers. I don't trust the EVIC as it usually reads 2+mpg higher than I calculate.
I average between 18-20 mpg combined city and highway. I attribute this to the addition of the vararam, my religious use of the cruise control, checking tire pressures EVERY time i get gas, and performing scheduled maintenance religiously. I think thats really good for a full size truck with a HEMI. RAM, to me, has really stepped forward in this market.
