Have been using Wix XP. After my research, I'll be switching to Fram Ultra Synthetic.

I can't say it's the best but I just had a Fram Ultra synthetic installed when I changed oil to Pennzoil Platinum. Reading the synthetic oil thread I saw it was recommended along with others.

Mopar SRT synthetic filter. May go to RP after my supply runs out.

Best? How would we ever determine that?
Is there actually a test for the Best oil filter?
Best @ what?

Think about what all takes place inside an oil filter.
Flow/Pressure/Filtering -->Main 3 (Maybe more)?

I (myself) prefer & like the quality & design of these 3.
A. FU
B. RP
C. Wix XP (In NO particular order.)

Right now I'm using Purolator Boss. The 2 biggest things I look for is a silicon anti drainback valve and some type of synthetic filtering media. I don't know if it's best or not but it works for me. I know alot on here like the Fram Ultra but the last Fram I used felt like the center hole was too big, just felt really sloppy when threading it on. It didn't leak or anything like that , just didn't have a good feeling about how it felt on install.

I've used Mopar, Royal Purple, Wix XP and now I've settled on Fram Ultra.

Best= the big nono word for decades at Bobs.

I like the synthetic fiber filters and nothing else, Royal Purple/Amsoil, Napa Platinum/Wix XP, or Fram Ultra. I cut a RP filter at over a year in the engine, still pliable and viable. I bought a case of them, will never need another filter in this Ram anyhow.

I run the Royal Purple RP 10-48 , I cut one open after 8,000 + miles and the media looked like it could go for another 8k.
Today's better filters have :
100% synthetic media
Extra wall thickness
Silicone ADBV
Coil spring bypass
Thick surface mounting rubber gasket

RP 10-48
Wix Xp
Fram Ultra

Does anyone know what oil filter end cap socket fits the wix XP filter as I have tried to locate and I have tried several and have had no luck with any of them as they are too big or too small? Thanks

I use Baldwin oil filters on all of our vehicles including the Ram. Very good quality, very well made filters, and when purchased by the case, reasonably priced.

I usually use the mopar ones but wally world didn't have any when I stopped and just got a regular fram.

now the truck ticks funny for a minute on startup. Everyone keeps saying its the warped bolts but strange that it happened right after switching to a cheap Fram filter.

Why not just change filter and top off and see if that proves your point? I had the same thing happen with puro synthetic, then went to RP immediately and tick was gone. The only time my engine ticked on redline and only for a second at start up, now tick free for 5 years.

I say to every person cut open your filters after your oil change like many of us do. That is why I wont be using paper filters again.

maybe it does not have the anti drain back feature with the cheaper filter.
