Default "Y" pipe exhaust or Carven?
What the title asked. What is the gain/loss both is power and sound of deleting the muffler completely and replacing it with a y pipe or using a bold on carven system? What is the difference between the competitor and the progressive series carven?

Shouldn't see any losses really. And probably not any noticeable gains. Sound is why most are swapping mufflers. Give your truck a little more aggressive tone. The competitor series is just louder. Progressive is a little more subtle. Believe mufflers to be about identical otherwise. Can't help with the 'y' pipe. I have the progressive kit on my truck and love it. Most are pretty happy with the carven kits.

I went with the Carven Competitor Series and love the aggressive sound. Truck felt more responsive after install.

Is there a noticeable difference in sound with the Progressive Series over stock exhaust? I've seen videos but sometimes its hard to tell in videos vs real life.

Yes! Way more grumble(?) on cold start and idle. Also if you get on it. Otherwise @ cruise speeds you cant really tell any diferrence from stock.

The videos just don't capture the sound like standing there in real life. Its -8 right now in NE, and I've been auto starting my truck in the morning even though its parked in the garage. Still takes a minute or two to remove the big ass grin from my face after I hear it start up from inside!!!

Does anyone on here have the Y pipe? I would imagine it to be even louder but Im not sure how it would sound.

Here is my hemi with y pipe muffler delete, resonators still on. Sounds quite similar to the carven package imo.

I talked to the Carven guys and they told me that they only thing louder than the R series is straight pipe. But its not as loud as I thought it'd be, probably due to the dual exit being at the rear and, of course, when the MDS kicks in

So if i were you I'd probably go with a y-pipe for now, and afterwards add a carven if desired (you'd need to get a y-pipe anyway).
