hello folks .. i'm stuck at home with the front caliper stuck on driver's side.. just changed it with new. what could cause the brake to not release .. dirt in line or air or leak in line.. could it be master cylinder .. i have to get this fixed to drive to Nova Scotia from Ontario .. thanks .. dave

Bad from the factory maybe? I wouldn't think dirt in the lines could do that, not air either.

Possibly the rubber line from the steel brake line to the caliper.

+1 this is it.

The rubber lining in the center of the hose comes loose and acts as a 1 way valve. I bet if you let it sit for a while it will move but the minute you press on the brake it locks up like 80%.

I have had calipers lock up on me also. Do not know why. I have tried putting a rebuild kit on them but that only helps a little while and then they lock up again.

Your caliber could freeze up because the pins in them can get dirt in then and mixed with the grease that's in there, they gum up. You need to take out the pins and rubber boot and give them a good clean every brake pad change
