PCM Flash Reprogramming Procedures

Get replacements here:

I say let the dealer do it...Takes to much time, energy, and expensive tools to do the job...but not only dealerships are capable of doing it.. hope this helps

I checked out the website for replacement pcm's. According to them, it is plug and play and will not require any additional programming. If this is the case, I can order a pcm from them and install it myself. Thoughts?

Long as its the same P/N the pcms can be swapped plug and play and if the PCM is stock. A dealer reflash is round $100 most of the time.

I'm on the fence about what to do. I would love to order the pcm and replace it myself and hopefully save a boatload of $.

Called the dealer I bought it from, they gave me an estimate of $798.00 for parts and labor to install a new pcm.

Sounds about right, a dealer PCM is gonna be pricey. Does your truck have the sentry key system?

It does not have the key fob built into the key if that is what you are referring to.

No the Sentry system will lock out the ignition if the coded key is not used. The ignition key will have a grey head on it instead of a plain black one. If it has that then its more involved them a swap and play.

Just picked my truck up from the dealer, had the pcm replaced. 1st thing I noticed was the temperature on the overhead console reading 130 degrees. I thought it might adjust to the current temp but it never did. Also seems to me that the speedo is not reading correct. Guess I will take it back to them tomorrow for a 2nd look.
