In OCT 2008, I purchased a new silver Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Quad, 4x4 Big Horn Ed 1D7HU18N38J14152 with a build date of NOV 2007, loaded with options from GO DODGE Arapahoe, Englewood, CO.
I joined the forum 4-10-2017 to find out whether the 4.7 L with the Getrag 6 spd manual transmission is, as the service manger here in Kansas City indicates; a limited production option. My Dodge named "Hi-Ho" because it is silver, (Lone Ranger) now has 16,773 miles and will be serviced for its first out-of state road trip. Are there any items, other than routine, I need to check that have been problems on this model? Two recalls have been done: 1) gas filler tube replaced, 2) drivers air bag. Thanks for any tips you might care to share.

A 1500 six speed?!? Yea I'd say that's a very low production truck. I've only seen 2500 gas with the six speeds

thnx Andrew! I suspected the service manager was just "shinning" on me so that i would bring it back for service. One never knows anything for sure at a dealership especially if they know you are a senior citizen.

Did some quick digging, most seem to be trx or 2wd regular cab short boxes. Ours being quad can seems to rare and if 4wd even more so. Post some pics of that 16k mile truck!

I looked @ (2) Ram 1500 4x4 quad cab six speeds in OCT 2008. One in fort collins (blue metallic) w/o limited slip rear, skid plates, tow hooks, hitch n 34 gal tank. I went with the clear coat silver Ram from Englewood. My Ram had been on the lot since NOV 2007, 11 months, no takers. We bought it on line with @ deep discount n rebate with lifetime service contract. Those days are over, for sure! Not sure how to post pics. Maybe wife will know. Thnks for ur imput.

08 was the first yr of the 4.7 with the nice bump up in hp an the last yr for a manual option as the 4th gen 1500 went all auto. I'd love a RCSB 08 4.7 with a 6spd

On the hwy, slightly rolling terrain 60-65mph in 6th >17.5 n <20.1. Rarely been in city traffic so probably around 15-low 16s. The anti-spin rear differential is the standard 3:92:1 with 20" x 9.0 Al Cr-clad wheels. @60mph, rpms are < 2k. I rarely fill the 34 gal tank to save weight.

Wow, after doing a little research on the Getrag 238 6-speed, I'm convinced you have one heck of a towing combo. Mopar probably never offered the Getrag with the Hemi, because it would make such a capable tow rig. If they offered the Hemi/Getrag, they'd lose sales on 2500/3500.

Gear ratios:

545RFE auto

1st = 3.00
2nd = 1.67
3rd = 1.50
4th = 1.00
5th = 0.75
6th = 0.67

Getrag 238 manual:

1st = 4.23
2nd = 2.53
3rd = 1.67
4th = 1.23
5th = 1.00
6th = 0.79

Thnx for the ratios....i have never towed or pulled with it, but if the need arises im good. Hi-Ho has always been the 4th or, at times, the 5th family vehicle that no one wanted to drive due to size n low mpg along with the fact that when in the barn...outa sight...outa mind.

***my family members also are acutely aware that their world will be altered in a swift , efficient n uncomfortable manner if Hi-Ho comes back with ANY scratches and/or dents.

This is very cool to read about. My 06 1500 "Dolly" is a six speed manual matched With the 4.7 as well. Would not have it any other way. Thanks for sharing about your truck.

I think it was never offered because it wouldn't hold up behind a Hemi. If I'm not mistaken, Getrag uses the numerical designation to denote torque rating and I believe that's Newton-meters (238 Nm=175 ft/lbs). I see @ Allpar the 2008 4.7 had 329 TQ @ 3,950 RPM. In normal driving, the shifts would be well under the engine torque peak, so it would've been fine for this application.

They offered the getrag with the Hemi in 2500s, I almost bought one few years ago in yellow but didn't want regular cab at the time.
