ok i have an 04 1500 hemi, dad has a 04 2500ctd. about a year ago my lamp out light would come on and ding every time i hit the brake, it got to the point wen i would hit the brake it would ding so fast the light would never come on. after days of trouble shooting and finding no bad bulbs, i found the drivers side tail light strip, (the gray thing that holds the bulbs) the bottom hole was corroded. after cleaning with a wire brush and contact cleaner, i have yet to have the problem come back. well, i got off duty the otherday and drove upstate to go fishin with the old man, and when he hit the brake leavin the drive way...........ding........ "dad wtf is that" dunno, been doin it for a week, only does it when i hit the brake. well we got home, toll the drivers side tail light out and BEHOLD same corroded connection. are we the only 3rd gens this has happened to?

I might have to go check this on mine to make sure I won't fall victim.

This is a HUGE prob with the 3rd gen. Specailly the 03s and 04s. I have replaced both of my circuit boards (the long grey thingy that holds the light bulbs) and I haven't have the problem again. The most common one is the drivers side CB

You can get new CB for our trucks for about $20-$30...

I popped mine off to install led's for the brake and tail parking. ( I highly reccomend these. from retroshop.) They will last the life of your truck and do not heat up like the oem bulbs do, as far as corrosion I saw none, however I used die-electric grease on all the bulbs and the rubber mounting gromets. I doubt I'll have this problem for a while. Still wouldn't hurt to inspect everytime you check the airfilter. ( I clean mine every year 'fore the winter)
