About to pull the trigger...

On a Cummins... but I have a few questions first.

Truck
2005 2500 Cummins 4x4... 140k miles, quad cab, 8 foot bed....

Questions

Salesman said it had a built tranny in it...the way it drives it feels like it but I'm not sure. It is an automatic... its shifts kinda hard and firm and no slippage. But they threw away the build sheet on it. How can I know for sure its a built tranny...any way to tell?

There is 3 gauges on the pillar...I know what the 2 are...but there is one that has numbers from like 0-14 and it says x100 degrees. It goes up and down while driving...is that my EGT temps?

All around its a solid truck and I'm getting it for a great price. Only performance done to it is an intake and exhaust...and the dealer is re-enstalling factory exhaust bc its illegal to sell a truck with no cats. lol

Tell them to give you the exhaust after they replace it.... That way you can re-install it lol. Call dealer they should be able to get you a build sheet.

I'm buying this from a dealer...they threw away the build sheet. They can't get ahold of the guy they just bout it from

Well tell them to keep on trying to get ahold of them. its gonna suck if you find out it doesnt have the built tranny

That's why I'm asking this question lol they said they "had" a build sheet but you all know how dealers are. Specially when its a chevy dealer haha

Its a trigger press man, get it right. And I would just ask them to give you the persons name who they bought it from so you can call and ask, they'll prolly give you some privacy bs, but you would be able to find out previous owner in other ways...

I gave them a list of **** I wanted done by tomorrow...one of them was the tranny, but he said no guratees. So ill see if I can get the guys number and name

If its not a built trans., it may have a performance tune programmed into the truck. I know my 06 shifted 'firm' when my bully dog was set to performance. That could indicate the truck was abused, and may have a comprimised transmission life expectancy.

There is no tuner on the truck. Only performance mods done to the truck was exhaust and intake.

A tip for all of you go to the Ram website and enter the owners section. Create a login if you have not yet. Enter the VIN for that truck as though you own it. It will give you the build sheet for "your" truck. Then if you don't buy it just delete it from profile. You can actually do this in any Mopar site. Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Ram.
