Air Bag recall We are so screwed!

I didn't get a letter in the mail yet. The following was pulled from cbs news, instead of posting the link I copied an pasted the trucks affected in this forum. Seems the 2nd and 4th gens are immune from the takata air bag recall......interesting name for a truck manufactured in st louis mo.

Why would you be screwed? Wouldn't the recall get it fixed/replaced for free?

if the parts aren't available , do you stop driving the truck? or ride with the system disconnected? how many replacements are waiting at the dealer? not to mention the inconvenience of blowing a day or two just to get it done.....yeah we are screwed.

lol. You think every control module, actuator, sensor or air bag is made in the same plant? There are many more parts than just air bags that are gotten from other parts manufacturers.

2007 Dodge Ram 1500

Summary:

Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is conducting a limited regional recall for vehicles originally sold or currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the U.S. ****** Islands, and equipped with Takata-brand air bag inflators. Upon deployment of the driver side and/or passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.

Consequences:

In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of one of the affected frontal air bags, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the vehicle occupants.

Remedy:

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the air bag inflator(s), free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

just looked up my '06.....seems I lucked out on most of the recalls......I think they are looking at the southern most trucks fla,****** islands....that area....Mine came from texas..........I'm ok with that.

Even though I have an 07' I am not in this recall, but I received a letter for the fuel tank vent valve recall, I am waiting for parts to reach my local dealer.

Mine doesnt say anything either when I type it in although I have a 2008 that was bought in Texas. Don't know if I should take it in or not.....the nearest dealership is about 45 minutes away from me and a pretty big hassle to deal with.
