Just hollow it out, Texas only does visual inspections to see if you have a CAT.
I think.

Cut it off or buy a high flow cat. A gutted cat won't net you gains worth the effort. I would take a stock cat anyday over a gutted one.

Not that I have ever done it.. since it is technically illegal in 49 states and will get you publicly whipped in CA. :naughty:
But if you gut the cat.. be very sure to get ALL of the membrane out of the housing. One little piece left in there can block you your exhaust by getting wedged in the pipe or in the muffler.

If you hollow the cats, will it throw a check engine light? I'm sure little to no performance gains, but how about sound?

i cut my cats off, threw a check engine light but didnt change the way it ran. i feel like i have a little more power in the higher rpm range, possibly due to more air flow??? definitely made it a little louder also...

i tried the non foulers, put 2 together, drilled the one out. cel went off but then came back on after a couple days.
