Move up to 285/70R17 Wrangler Duratracs and you will not get stuck! Check the consumer reports (best on Ice, hands down, use year round, very quiet) but expensive up here in Kanada anyhow.

I hate the Wrangler tires Dodge put on my truck. Was looking at the Duratracs. This fall in the field pulling a 250 Bu wagon full of Soybeans through the field really showed the weaknesses in my stock tires.

I wanted something great in dry highway conditions, rain, snow, ice, off-road, etc. Think the Duratracs fit that?

My comment was without mentioning an Ice Tire like the Blizzacks, etc like -D- said. Those are an Option too!
The P245's are Gaye and tiny (height wise) but do come in the winter only sizes., I tried a set and kept them one month then sold em to a Brit Guy. With this Option you need a second summer set I.e> 20's etc.

My Trucks been in Alberta for five years, tried 4 other types of tires sizes and I like these the best, as I can run them 12 months a year and they look nice too. and 285 is just the right width. Tried 305 pro-comps and almost lost it a few times.

One would expect a Goodyear to be crappy based on the chitty ones that come on factory trucks.. Having the Auburn I could prolly manage in 2wd on the Icy Zamboni stuff but I love to launch hard and leave the coal rollers spinning on the ice.

Skinner tires are better for winter.

Sort of

Skinnier is better to push through snow but if you are looking for better handling on ice than you want wider tire with a soft compound and a lot siping as it increases surface area.

Also as a side note you always want your best tires in the rear no matter if it is a fwd, rwd, or awd/4wd. This applies when replacing 2 tires at a time. This prevents the vehicle from spinning out because the front has more traction than the rear.

Stay away from mud tires for ice they will be terrible because the large bars do not grip well on ice and often very hard.
