I have a car seat that has these metal things that connect to what most cars have...A small metal bar behind the seat...Doesn't seem like the RAM has those...So my only option is the seatbelt to secure the seat then?

yup. I don't recall my 08 having the LATCH system either. My 10 does though.

don't put a baby seat in the middle on a quad cab. there just isn't enough room there for that.

It should have the latch system, if not you may have to use the seatbelts. Skip the center seat for sure. Most towns have a free installation point for child seats. It may save you some trouble by locating and bringing the truck and seat to them and they will install it. I have installed a few and somewhere in the back of my mind I always wonder if it is good enough even using the LATCH system.

Really? In that case Id be screwed totally...Being 6'3" there isn't any way she is fitting behind me...and even with the other seat at a comfortable position it hardly fits...Seemed like middle was the only option

This is reason number 310 that I got a 4th gen crew.

See the baby seat back there? The pass seat is all the way back, baby seat fit in perfectly.

My truck has the tie down latches for putting it in the center seat. Of course mine is a reg cab and I would not put him in there unless there was no other choice. We have our sins car seat in my wifes nitro behind the passenger seat. It uses the belt and it is tight as tight can be. The latches though is for the side seats not the center seat.

According to the fire department here, number one safest place is in the center seat. If you were ever in an accident that is the safest place. Second safest is behind drivers seat because if you were ever t boned more often than not its going to happen when you turn left which puts the car seat directly in line with the oncoming vehicle. Passenger side is not necessarily the worst but because of the reason stated before there is that chance that it could become the most dangerous. Reason we put it in the passenger side is because it was just more convenient. When driving with the family I dont take any chances when it comes to turning, changing lanes, speed etc.
