What is the best year for the cummins motor as far as hp torque and pulling ability goes any other info would be appreciated as well. And is the cummins motor more reliable than the power stroke or duramax.

As far as third gens or across the board? Obviously the newer trucks will have more power and towing capacity as technology increases but also become more computerized/electronically controlled. If I were to buy a 3rd gen Cummins it would be an 06 or 07 5.9, that way you don't have to worry about the emissions equipment that came on the 6.7 engines.

I would agree with that. The 5.9L, without all the emissions crap, is easier and cheaper to mod so you can bump the HP and torque past the 6.7L diesel stock ratings pretty easily.

I'd just buy one. There is a LOT of changing to do to make a Hemi to Cummins conversion work. It may prove to be more expensive than just swapping trucks.

Yes 07 was a split year, you could get a 5.9 in the earlier 07s and the later ones switched to the 6.7.

But yes just buy one. A swap will cost more time and money than its worth and probably will never end up being 100% anyway.
