Does any one know a solid answer on if you can disable your horn on remote start? If the deal cannot, is it as easy as disabling it physically by removing the wire that goes to the horn from the remote startup box?
I've read a couple of different threads and forums about this but no one has a definite answer.
I leave my house at 3am and I am starting to hear complaints from my neighbors since I started this new job a couple of months ago. Thanks in advance.

Is it factory remote start? I've never had my horn go off at all during the remote start process.

Mine used to beep when locking the truck and yes that can be disabled. I did it years ago but I can't remember the process. It's on here somewhere.

The feature can definitely be removed. It can be done through removing the wire or programming, this is also dependent on the Remote Start you have in there. Do you know what kind it is?

Yea sorry it's factory remote start. It honks twice before turning over.
It's up under the steering well right? I've searched the 3gen section but didn't come up with anything close. I know some of the 4gen guys have talked about it but wasn't sure about the 02-08

I don't believe you'll be able to just pull a wire. 06 and up is mostly can bus controlled and all that information is sent over a data line. There is a write up on here of how to disable the horn when you lock the doors. It's as simple as pressing a couple buttons on the keyfob

Here's what I found. I think this is how I did it on mine. The parking light flash deactivation is included as well if you want to deactivate that too, but I wouldn't.

The horn chirp feature is activated when shipped from
the assembly plant. If desired, this feature can be disabled
by using the following procedure:

1. Perform this operation while standing outside the
vehicle.
2. Press and hold the LOCK button on a programmed
(i.e., functional) RKE transmitter.
3. Continue to hold the LOCK button, wait at least four
seconds, but no longer than 10 seconds, then press and
hold the PANIC button. Release both buttons at the same
time.
4. To reactivate this feature, repeat the above steps.

Yeah 3rd gens don't have that option lol

Anyway the procedure I posted above is the correct way to do this on a 3rd gen, I just tested it on my truck. Takes all of 10 seconds.

Thanks for that man. So I'm thinking what if I hold down the start button instead of the lock button when your deactivating locking horn.

When you deactivate the horn chirp it should deactivate it as well for remote start. I believe it just deactivates all chirps the truck would make whether it is from locking, unlocking, remote starting etc.

Alright so I tinkered with this today after work and couldn't quite figure it out. I can deactivate the flashing lights when unlocking but couldn't deactivate the honking. I have to go to the dealership to get an extra key fob so maybe I'll ask them when I'm there about it.

It's pretty tricky to do right. I had to do it like 5 times before it worked lol. The timing all has to be perfect. I found that when I pressed the panic button while holding the lock button, I had to hold them both for about two seconds before releasing them to get it to work.

So I reread your instructions and I was doing it wrong the entire time. For the horn I would hold the lock and then press unlock instead of the panic button. I'll try again tomorrow.....(palm to the face!)

Did it a couple of times this morning until my wife started yelling at me to stop honking lol.....still couldn't do it. 5 seconds lock then hold panic for 2 seconds and then let go of both?

Luckily for you I felt oddly motivated tonight lol. Don't mind the dirty ass floor and half insulated garage door. Try holding the lock button a little longer next time. Hope this helps.
