Live here in Boston area out plowing most of yesterday and today.
I got in truck this morning and noticed the heater speed not working to good

Seem I lost the 3rd speed
low-med and high works but the 3rd is not its lower than 2nd speed
When I change 2nd speed is faster than 3rd, 3rd seems to slow down.
Would that be the resistor and is it located behind the glove box?

Dodge ram 2004 quad 4x4
regular heat controls not dual control.thanks for any info

Please check the following because most resistor pack failures are due increased resitance caused by connections at the resistor pack/ heater motor also the heater motor increases resistance as the brushes wear being an 04 it very could well be the heater motor by replacing just the resistor pack you run the risk of over heating it and causing melted wiring or worse a in cab plastic fire. the picture is what happens when a failed resitor is replaced without replacing blower motor and checking connections.

Checked all connections I do know about the over heating as that happened on a Jeep grand cherokee wires melted.

On the o4 Ram all looked ok so im sure the resistor gave out.

thanks for the info

check the draw from the blower motor on high after installing the new resistor with a multi meter or put the fan on high while holding the wires going into the resistor if they get hot you have a problem will need to do it for 10-15 minutes.
