you can expect real gains of about 20hp peak. you'll really feel it in the top end. the bottom end isnt really that noticeable, but its still a little gain.

The biggest thing i love about the headers is the sound. they change the sound of the truck dramatically.

Dylan if you're only wanting to spend $2500, gears, lsd, and headers is def your best use of it.

when you're doing our research for a shop, make sure they're not a one-size-fits-all shop. be sure they REALLY know what they're doing with gears and rear ends. they are really not something you want to screw up. also make sure they offer a warranty.

I drove 45 minutes to get to the shop that did mine.

... or ask around, study up, and do it yourself! =P Alot more fun that way! $600 for the Front/rear 4.56's with master install kits for both, $500 +/- $30 for DTT. $150 +/- $20 for tools. You can do it yourself for around $1250 bucks. And then you'll know what your talking about, how it works, goes together, and the condition of your truck. Just my opinion ; )

Has anyone on here done gears themselves? I have seen it done but getting the backlash and all the fine adjustments seem to take some good know how.

True but get something slightly off and you run the risk of grenading all that time, effort and $$$ just to have to do it all over again. While most shops, if they are a good shop, will waranty thier work so if they screw up its on them not you. So pay $1800 once and have it done right and warantied vs paying $1250 to do it yourself with the possibilty of having to dish out another $1250 if you **** something up.... The $1800 doesn't sound all that bad really. Gears are one of the few things I will never mess with

agreed. awile back I was studying up on how to do them myself but there is one thing i couldnt learn from the internet; experience. doing these rear ends takes some experience that you can only get from doing several 9.25 rears... i dont want to practice on my own **** with $1000 in new parts...

Why are we still talking about gears? I would have already dropped the truck off at the shop!

lol if you screw it up its not just the $1000 in new parts you've destroyed. sometimes when they grenade it takes the whole housing with it.

Boy had the stock clip come off of his stock lsd and locked everything up and looked like someone dropped a frag granade in the rear end. :Grenade:

Yeah like you said a good shop that will warranty the work is prolly the best way to do it. I just want to learn, and after seeing what a "skilled gear install shop" did to weedahoe's gears, and rearend. I think Ill have better luck doing it myself with some online info, couple specialty tools, 2 buddies, and co-worker that builds rear-ends.
