I wanted to see what everybody has to say. I need some shocks for the front of my 2005 4x4 quad cab 5.7. I live in Michigan on a dirt road ( but drive supper slow on it). The truck sees a lot of highway time with my sled in the back or pulling a trailer. The truck does not go mudding so what shock would be the best? Thanks for the help.

On my old 06 I put 5100's on the rear, (put monroe's up front) but it definitely stiffed up the ride a little but it does haul better and it did help with wheel hop while on the highway...my $.02

Bilstein for sure if you don't plan to lift it get the HD shocks from Bilstein they are not adjustable but cost less and work great! I had the same ones on my Durango and love them.

I have the HD as well and like them, I also considered the Rancho 9000xl adjustable shocks that were a similar price. Tire rack.com had the best price for me on those HD.

Are the 5100 different than the HD? Another thought is I do put my sled and atv in the truck a lot. If they are different witch one helps better with that? But I don't need to lift the back at all since I don't have the front leveled.

Those do look like caltrac traction bars

Bilstiens are great shocks now doubt about it
Most go with the 5100 because they have an adjustable height for 06-12 1500
I'm not sure how the HD compare to the regular 5100 (non adjustable) shock
They were out of the price range so I put pro comp es9000 shocks on all 4 corners
Extremely happy with them

About 440.00 shipped with the new U bolts and everything. You have to order them from Calvert Racing in CA. Least that's what I did.

If your not going to level it, the yellow/blue Bilstiens are great. I have a pair for sale, used for $50 plus shipping, on the truck about 8mos/7500miles. These were off my 05 QC 4x4.P1010001.jpg
