Too bad tear drop trailers don't have bathrooms.. you could tow one of those with a bicycle.
I'd put a one ton trans cooler unit on there, maybe rig up a bigger radiator, and tow that beast over the Rockies! Or Appalachians since they're closer.
As long as your monitoring all the temperatures, I don't see it being a huge issue. My '14 grand caravan has a little over #3000 tow capacity. Not saying I would, only because the 8 speed transmissions in these things can shift rough as it is, but in a truck I wouldn't be worried.
On a side note, I found a company that makes ported throttle bodies and tuners for my van, so maybe you can do a few upgrades to the truck if you haven't already?
