Hey guys/gals.. I'm curious what everyone here finds they drive in an average year? The reason I ask, I had a 2007 ram on lease for 4 years and didn't use up the 80,000kms during the lease (iirc 71,000kms)... So, I figured 20,000/yr seemed to be a realistic average for people...

I've had my 3500 for almost 2 years now, and I've put on almost 80,000kms... Granted its a CTD, and likely will last a long time, but am I 'over using' my truck? I'm wondering if I should be looking at getting a car for in town/the wife, and keep the truck for the highway/towing... our 3500 is our only family vehicle at this point. Thoughts/comments?

12-15,000 is generally average as far as dealers and KBB/NADA are concerned. I put almost 20,000 miles on the R/T in a year though. So far have put 5,000 miles on the new truck in less than 3 months but it had 5,000 when I bought it(demo) so it has 10,000 miles

I've put right at 2k a month on my truck. I keep trying to cut back, but I just love the freedom of driving. I go for drives just to go driving. *shrugs* 'Merica!

Up until 2 or 3 years ago the average was 10k an now they say 12k
I wouldn't worry to much about where your at, our 09 CTD has 91,000 miles or just over 146k kms and my girlfriends 05 CTD has 153k miles(246k km)

Amazing how different it is here in Australia. 18-20K miles per year is considered normal. And fuel costs a lot more. Interesting to hear that in US average is lower, but you guys have such an awesome interstate system that its a little surprising.

Im pretty sure the "new" average annual mileage is 15000 miles now. I will roll that tommorow morning by the time i hit the end of my driveway. I have owned my truck for ten months. And i only live seven miles from work.

I think a lot has to do with where you live and who you are. Take my neighbor who has two pickups he drives the old one for day to day and takes out the new one for special days and events. He lives 10 miles from work. I on other hand use my truck nearly always and for everything and live 3 miles from work. He should put on more miles but spreads it around between trucks. I have towed something about a third to half those miles while his has yet to see a trailer or a load as it is saved away in the garage with only a few thousand on it now I am sure.
My point is I bought my truck to well drive it and use it so I expect to put on 20000 miles a year because it goes where I go for the most part and I am okay if it gets so called high mileage for its age because I find vehicles that get driven more than they sit last longer and have less issues. I am not sure why this is but the high mileage rigs have just done well for me. He seems to believe he can preserve his truck from age by not driving it. (which will never work.)

Every company does leases and expectations different. We had a Volkswagen and they consider 12000 a year to be the average but I have seen leases for 10000 and 15000 too.
To each his own but I say get out there and drive the hell out it that is what it's for.

I usually put 7-8,000 a year on mine. That's with driving somewhere nearly every weekend, but I only live a mile from work.

I've had this one since Feb. 10th and as of this morning it has 1,350 miles on it.
