Hi everyone. I am new to the forum here and need some bulb advice. I have a 2005 quad 5.7 and am putting HID heads and fogs in it. My question is witch bulb will give me the most useable light? 4300, 5000? I dont care at all about the looks of them I just want to be able to see the best i can as I live in the country and do a lot of night highway distance driving. Thanks for the help in advance.

5k would be best. Not sure what color the 4300 is but from my understanding, the lower the temp on the bulb the brighter it is. And if you want to go brighter get a 55W Kit. JJ from retroshop should be able to hook you up with a kit.

The best light would come from a 4300, but it has a bit of yellow to it. (halogen look)

5Ks will be a purer white, slightly less light (I mean SLIGHTLY).

Let me know if you are interested in a kit!!

I was thinking 5k. The only thing making me second guess is that 4300K is the stock on most oem hid and wouldn't you think that would be the brightest? I am most concerned with the night snow driving.

Do you think the 4300 would be better for the snow and country driving? Or is the 43 and 5 just splitting hairs?

4.3k will give you slightly more light, but it's minimal and I dont think that you would notice the difference. I went from 4.3k to 6k (mostly for the cleaner color temp) and the light output loss wasn't that much. 5k will give you a nice bright light and put out a lot more light than a halogen bulb while looking good (even though you mentioned you dont care about light color).

Go with a 55W 4300, it'll wash out any of the color and make it pure white.

If you're really worried about snow, get some 3k for your foglights. I love mine, they are AWESOME in heavy snow, kill the headlights and you don't have that "warp speed' snow sceen anymore. You can just see the road, easily.

I've been thinking of upgrading to HID's soon too. What kit does everyone recommend? I would like to do both headlights and fogs but it depends on price. I want a PNP kit or at least as close as I can get.

Thanks for any recommendations,

Kevin
