Well, show season is pretty much coming to a close. I am doing a show this weekend, followed by one in September, and that is it for me. Then, it's time to start the off season mods.

My list:

1. turbo
2. suspension lift
3. audio

I NEED to get at least one, if not two of these DONE this winter! My goal is to have the truck, totally done to the point I am happy with it, with in 2 years. Then, time to push on to other projects.

Anyone else plan to do anything over the off season?

get the turbo from that list, and instead of doing a second one on that list, stick with performance and get supporting performance mods. your truck is all show no go (relatively speaking) right now.

You are right. Given that i have a 4.7, mods are very limited. I thought about doing a motor swap...but, for the same price, I can do a one off turbo set up with a FMIC, gears, cams, and a few other mods. My truck was never designed to go fast. However, I am going higher, with larger tires, so I need to be able to move the effen thing. Even as it sits now, it's a slug going up hill.

You have a hard choice cause half the fun is deciding on what to do next.
I try to balance my mods, by doing one performance then a cosmetic then suspension related. The only thing i pretty much lack is audio but that is really my choice.

My off season will be when i get to the paint the truck stage. By then my garage will be built then i can store it in winter. The gear mod would be a place to start and the turbo 4.7 would look real good on your score card. Real nice truck BTW and a good topic.

With a turbo you will need a good setup and tune to make boost with that large of a truck. Turbo lag is a ***** but when they hit your off to the races. 4.88s deff wont clear your front housing and 4.56s will fit in there good. What type of lift are you looking to go to?

I know 4.88's won't fit, but I want to go to a larger tire, so idk if 4.56's are going to cut it. I am looking at doing a 6" possibly Procomp then adding the Bilstein shocks for another 2".

So the current lift is coming off for a total of 8 inches of lift to go back on correct? The 4.56s should work good, im assuming you have 3.55s in there now. The only way you can get 4.88s to work is to do a 2500 axel swap and that will be a nightmare prob far as fab work. I wonder if there any people doing serious trail riding to where they have Dana 60s mounted front and rear on these trucks?

Ok I got you. With that size tire your gonna feel stock again with the 4.56s, without gears your gonna just be sitting there trying to go. Buddy of mine just finished his 2500 cummings with 9 inches to clear 41s and he lost all the power he had just built up. His truck was running mid low 13s on 4 inches, turned a 15 the other day on 41s.

That's why I want the turbo. But he has a CTD I don't feel sorry for him lol..there are a TON of power options out there.

He has bout all of the bolt ons plus a 72mm turbo, lift pump, built tranny and converter with gears. Just needs more work to turn the extra weight that all the lift and tires create.
