just wondering what you guy think of mud flaps, i currently just have front ones and thinking of taking them off, do you think it will destroy my paint job? keep in mind i just put on 35x12.50 trail grapplers

i'm asking because they are rubbing a bit and i think the tire will rip it off anyway lol (just at full lock)

I kept mine on least til I get my 34's or 35's theory being that I won't have to clean the spray from road puddles.I barely gave them a second thought.

They came stock on my 05', and were removed soon after, just didn't like the look... That being said they did keep a lot of crap off the rear quarter panels. Its a PITA to clean off tire debri (damn lead foot).

Check your local laws before you take them off. A lot of places have requirements either based on vehicle size or tire height/width making mud flaps required.

I guess im against the grain and have em on all four corners on mine. It keeps the rock chips from happing and when sand racing it keeps from sand blasting my paint.

local laws dont require mudflaps persay, rather something to keep debris from coming off the tires. fender flares also fit that bill if need be

correction .. in illinois you are required to have some sort of "catch" for big tires ..IE lifted trucks and tractor trailers if tires exceed the fender .

yes they do . so yes in a way you are correct . but oem flares dont count as much . the bottom line is the tire cant stick out past the "catch" what ever it might be .

your paint will be chipped to ****. i noticed it after just a few months and i rarely drive sand/gravel roads. flares wont do a damn thing because they dont hang behind the tire...
i put some back on mine and the chips are fewer but i still get them.

whatever you do, get rid of the stock gougers- they gouge the **** out of your paint (mine was to the metal) and hold sand and water againts the paint.

id rather have chips v.s gouges
