how do you not get ripped off, from a private sale. ? Whats to stop any one from making a quick buck off ya? Is paypal gonna promise me (or anyone) the parts needed? I have dabbled a little bit with people on hd forums. I got sum stuff, sent cash. Turned out ok. But as the price goes up so does the risk. Any ideas out here. :Wedgie:

luck of the draw. Don't deal with someone who's new to a forum. Look over some of their posts, see if they are a ******* (I don't care what the deal is, if you are a douche, you ain't getting my money).

I've only been partially burned. It all worked out in the end, but took too long (in my eyes) for the solution. Paypal got my money back for me. Its hit or miss though (from what I have heard).

i got ripped on a locked stolen s/c from a guy using paypal, they got me my money back and i sent the unit to s/c to be returned to the rightful owner....

Yeah paypal is pretty good about this, they can take the money right back out of the account if something happens. Best thing to do is to meet the person face to face and deal, but if you have to get it from far away just paypal it.

Paypal is as close as you are going to get to a safe transaction. I have had two problems with purchases and both times Paypal got the money back for me.
