Recharge means that he has a reusable air filter that you add oil to. Bet the pcm reset is for good measure.

Yea to recharge is to clean and re-oil. I reset my PCM every time ou of habit and it doesn't hurt. Your truck starts to regulate itself after a while so I make it not. It also clears my engine light for a few miles, no cats no non foulers

I have had a K&N Drop in filter since my 2000 dakota. Not a bad mod for only 35 bucks. Pays for itself in about 3 years for me.

The PCM reset does make it drive like a new truck sometimes.

PCM resets usually hurt me lol only because of the custom tune. It runs a little rough for about 10 miles then the pcm learns what its doing.

But yeah, regular resets are usually a good thing

Good point A_F a reset with a more modded truck will cause the tune to adjust again. I know I didnt reset my first cam setup and prob wont do this one until it needs a new battery.

Yeah af I do a write up. I just bought the kn recharge kit from autozone. Every brand of filter has their own cleaner and oil but it's pretty much all the same. And since k&n is readily accessible at major retailer I picked a kit up. They are like 12 bucks. I'll work on it later

if you dont wanna lose your radio settings you can also do this:

remove the PCM fuse (its labeled), get in and buckle the seatbelt (yeah its important), move the key to the on position (but dont start), back to off, back to on, back to off, back to on (total of 3 times), back to off. you'll hear "ding....ding ding". Unbuckle, put the pcm fuse back in and you're done!

Well that's interesting. Probably won't work for us 2nd gen guys. Cause the key trick doesn't even work for me. oh well. Good tip though. I'm still gonna try it.

The reset always worked good for me when I first got my truck. But since the cam install I did the reset once and the truck idled real rough for a while after that.
