Hey everyone

I have a question If I bought a programer what kind of savings I am looking at in mpg's? I'm trying to figure out if it's really worth it in the end?

Thanks

Well, this is a big topic. I know you can do some searching on here and find a lot of threads. But, overall I like my tuner and I get around 18mpg on the highway. I have the Superchips 3815 and am running the 91 Performance tune with 93 octane gas.... I think they help out and add a few mpg's. But just a tuner wont help you as much as doing a cold air intake and exhaust as well to help your motor breathe a little better. I know the guys will chime in soon

Okay now on 87 i get around 19 on the highway but i dont really drive the highway that much. Im more worried about around town in eco mood. i drive 20 miles each way in traffic and every little bit can help so i was just wanting to know if the change will be 1 mpg better or like 3 to 4 mpg better.

Jeff, mine went up just a few. Mostly after the gear swap. I'm sure when I put my new tires on...it will probably go back down. Like Kristin said, supporting mods are where you are going to get more mpg's.

I have the sc 3865. With intakevand exhaust i get 2-3 more mpg. Being a smaller truck helps. When i went from 17's to 20's it went down a little but not a lot. Dont do a lot of traffic but do run back roads to avoid traffic. On the highway it goes up little bit but im rarely on the highway. The power boost and still getting decent mpg for a truck makes it worth it to me

13.5 mpg

A tuner gives you performance. In theory, that should give you mpg, but it won't.

I picked up about 1mpg on the 91tune on the dsp over the tunes on the sc3815, with the sc3815 I lost mpg with their 87 tune and picked up about 2mpg over stock on their 91tune.

I have the SC3815 and an intake. I never saw any difference really in mpg until I was on the interstate, I got 16mpg and that's the best my truck has ever done. All the stop and go driving I do 99% of the time gets my truck 13mpg no matter what tune I run. The level, 34" TG's and 20" rims I have help to contribute to that also LOL ;)

the catch is that it gives you performance, and that performance makes you smile when you mash the gas pedal. You will want to recreate this feeling and smile on your face...thus no real gains in mpg.

Personally i don't worry about one or two mpg. What's the difference it still eats a good amount of gas so id do it just for performance. Now if it was ten mpg? that's a difference.

Dan I know I saw it that's what has me thinking about all of this I just don't want to keep putting money in this truck if it's not going to be worth it in the end. In two years im going to be looking to upgrade my truck to buy a hemi so I just was hoping that in the end everyone was going to say the gas lilacs was better but it doesn't seem to be that way.
