I have a 2007 ram 1500 mega cab. Its a great truck but yesterday I encountered a problem where the rear turn signals and brake lights do not work.
I have checked the bulbs an dthey work fine.
I have not modified anything with the wiring backe there and I do not see anything wrong with it.
I did plug in my trailer and oddly the trailer lights work fine.
When I turn on the blinker to either side I get the fast blink indication usually meaning a bad bulb but I do not seem to have a bad bulb.

Anyone have any ideas - I'm a little confused as to what is happening

Thanks
Buddy

Could be a filament out, where they light up but don't blink. Also did you check the front bulbs when doing the signal test? oh and welcome to the site

Update

The backup lights work - the tail lights work - the front blinkers work
The trailer stop tail and turn lights work

The truck stop and rear turn lights do not work

I replaced the bulbs just in case....but no change

Thanks
Buddy

Does the third brake light work like it's supposed to?

Okay, let me see if I understand this. You have an '07, so it has the after burners with only two bulbs, one is reverse, the other is running/turn/brake lights. The reverse works. The running lights work. But the brake/turn does not work on either side?

And have you checked the owners manual to check the fuses?

My owners manual shows park lamp fuses for both sides checked verified OK
Center stop lamp fuse verified OK
Three trailer fuses verified OK
I cannot locate anything that indicates it is a fuse for turn signal or brake lamps aside from those listed above

Thanks

Even though the turn signals and stop lights don't seem to work and the blinkers give you the fast flash, can you tell if the bulb is actually lighting really really dimly? Also, does it fast flash on you with just the turn signal or is it the brake and turn signal together that does it?

Mine has done that and indicated a lampout. But the bulbs and all fuses were good. What I tried was completely removing the lights and the piece that bulbs plugged into and swapping them from left to right. Just to see what happened. They then worked. Switched them back and they still work.

My assumption in my case is that I have a loose connection there somewhere.

Do your lights have accessible circuit boards like the 02-06 tailights...try swapping those...i swapped my left circuit board when I had a similar problem and it was fixed.

Update

This does have plug in connectors at the bulbs.
I tried taking them off and testing for power with a meter and a light probe
no power getting to the blinker/stop filament. Tail light shows 12V no problem and of course it works.

I have a bad feeling the TIPM is shot. Not sure if there is a way to test that but I have run the wires back to the back of the cab and I have no voltage from the turn/stop circuits. I now understand why the trailer lights work - they have their own circuit - not just wired off the truck lights.

Any ideas?

I sure appreciate all the help ! Thanks Very Much!

do these trucks even have blinkers on the fuse panel any more like the old cars do or is it electronically controlled?

this is what I was just thinking. On the 02-06 the circuit boards back there are none for going bad. I had them go bad on my 05.
