My 18 year old daughter was driving home from a friends house last night when she swerved when she saw a deer in the road. In doing so she ended up plowing through a electric pole, then flipped at least twice finding herself upside down. She was able to unhook the seatbelt and crawl out the drivers side window. Amazingly, her only injury was the seatbelt bruised her shoulder. I'm so lucky not to have a badly injured or even dead child.
One of the cops and one of the ambulance attendants on the scene separately stated that from their experience the Durango is one of the safest vehicles to get into a bad accident in. After seeing the vehicle and how my kid walked away from it I agree.
It is a 2003 with a 5.9 that I bought in 2008 for my eldest daughter to have in college. She drove it for a couple years after college before I got her the 2008 Jeep she now drives. I held on to it after that and last month when my youngest turned 18 handed her the keys.
