Thinking of tradeing my 97 1500 4x4 with the 5.9L for a 2006 1500 4x4 with the hemi. Is there anything i should know about the hemi? Im kinda old school and absolutely love my 5.9L. I have over 160,000 miles on the motor and it dosent skip a beat and has been very trouble free. I guess Im just wondering if the hemi will be the same.

Hemi will last just as long as your 5.9 as long as you have regular maintenance done. There is a guy on here with I think 250k plus miles on his 04-05? Hemi

Hemi is a very strong, durable engine and yields about 100 more HP and gets about 25% better gas mileage. Nothing to worry about, get the Hemi and don't look back.

Only downside to the 02-up 1500s is IFS compared to all the 2nd gens with the stock SA. But that's mainly an off road concern if you do any of that. Other than that, HEMI's are where its at, I have an 06 myself.

Did some research when shopping for mine and the fact that the Hemi came on the 04 was the big selling point in my selection over the 02 or 03 with the 5.9L Magnum.

The Hemi puts out so much more power, weighs 60 pounds less, and is more gas efficient... plus... it's a HEMI so you get the cool HEMI badge on the fender, what else can you ask for?

Thanks everyone, I feel pretty confident in getting the newer truck. I just wanted to make sure i would be as happy with the HEMI as I am with the 5.9L. By the sounds of it, it should be a nice upgrade! Its a sharp truck too, I will post pics as soon as I decide to get it.

Go to the intro threads!

I just picked up my 2004 Hemi exactly 3 days ago and I love that engine.
