I drive a 2003 2500 Cummins and was wondering how or if there is an easy way to identify what transmission I have. I checked the build sheet on my truck and I know when it left the factory it had a 47re. However, I bought the truck used and I know that 40k ago a new transmission was put in. Is there an easy way to tell what kind of transmission I have without tearing into it? I know on the outside both transmission look very similar but there has to be a way.
