Tommorrow or Sat, (While my Wife is working) I will take the Truck up to Work in the warm shop and Install my new Ported Throttle Body. I'll throw up some pics and brief Yeah/Neah on the results after I take it out for a drive.

I also want to do a first Recce for my Floor Shifter Mod underneath and probably will start by removing the flip down drink holder assy, ashtray, and 12V power port so I can take measurements and plan the Fab for a new piece to go in there (since there is no room for the drink holder once the shifter goes in). I will either use Diamond plate which i can paint, or make a mold/jig and use poured fiberglass. Also with that decide on what will be installed in there too. I.E. 12V port, guages, storage hole, toggle switch, LED for e-fan, etc.. I will report the progress on the other thread I started "Next Interior Mod ordered".

I also really need to dust out the interior and clean/treat the leather seats.

Sounds like a fun weekend. Hope the TB works right with the knife edge on it, cant tell you how hesitant I am about the knife edge TB's after my run in with them, so I hope it works and feels great!

Danny sounds like you have some fun planned there. Ryan im almost thinking of changing my throttle blade on my TB to see if it helps with my part throttle surge, but Ive actualy gotten used to it.

What blade do you have on it now? Standard or knife edge?

The knife edge that came on my old tb when I first bought it made the truck jump...really really quickly with the tap of the gas to the point where tapping it would make the truck lunge forward and get up to about 10mph before you had a chance to catch it and in stop and go traffic to and from work everyday it was an accident waiting to happen, also made the truck stall out when stopped at a light.

This is what would happen with the knife edge throttle plate when I would start the truck up

Driving it was worse yet.... I will say though when gunning it at a light my god did it run so much quicker.... I know Frog's works or worked fine with it so I am not saying it will do it to everyones but mine just did not like it even after all the relearns and resets.

New Ported Throttle Body is in. No surging or jumping problem so far.
Took some Pics but photobucket is real slow and I had to abort once already and "End Task" crap and lost my Text I had here once already. When I get the Pics uploaded I'll put em up and explain how the procedure went and the results (Good so Far).

First get the CAI out of the way and remove the old TB.

2010-12-10121615-3.jpg

Ditch the Throttle Body Spacer that came with the CAI system (Even the Mopar Ones come with these. (I tried it when the CAI went in and No better than a Helix Paperweight)

2010-12-10122024-3.jpg

The back of the old TB had some condensation as well as a tad inside the intake opening, but then again its been real cold the past 3 weeks.

2010-12-10122038-3.jpg

The front of the Old TB was very clean (and was only ever wiped out once in 3 years) so don't know why folks complain about them getting dirty??? Must be talkin about the Back Side for sure.

Side by side comparison of the new and old versions.

Backsides.Notice Knife Edge as they call it on the new one R/H side of the Throttle Plate where its cut down.

Danny,
I have a FastMan TB (knife edge) and I didn't notice any change when I installed mine. No surging, felt pretty much the same as the OEM unit. But looking at your picture there is quite a difference in appearance between yours and mine. I know yours came from Moe's but do you know who modified it?

PICS CONT'D:

This is the inside of the Stock One.

2010-12-10123326.jpg

And the Ported one. Notice at the area of the Plate its seems like they keep some meat in that area!

2010-12-10123320.jpg

A pic to show inside port that is pretty well the exact size of the intake Hole!

2010-12-10124502-1.jpg

Installed it calls for 105 Inch Lbs of Torque, but since my bolts have been in and out at least 4-5 times I decided to use 110 In Lbs for good measure into the Intake clips.

2010-12-10130659-1.jpg

2010-12-10130750-1.jpg

And Final Pic of the Install. Because the TB Spacer was ditched I had to adjust the Nut that holds the Intake Tube inside the Air Box Heat shield to make up the difference.

2010-12-10130642-1.jpg

Verdict so far. Well i reset the TCM and did the TB reset Too (Gas Pedal).
The Throttle Response was noticeable in Park right away when i fired her up. It felt real crisp with no hesitation or Bog. Road Test was in 4WD because the Roads are still covered in Ice and we got a fresh coat of snow. Acceleration is bout the same however the sound of the Intake is slightly different than before (but I like it) and really Growls and is louder than the Magnaflow. So far the Torque Converter seems to like this set-up better on part throttle in the 35-50 MPH Range as i did not seem to get the tranny Bang/Grab/Jolt that happens in that range on light acceleration. The revs kick up nice when I hit the pedal at any speed and there is no jump off the line so far as descibed by Ryan. I did one rev up to redline from a rolling start on a patch of what appeared to be clear pavement once again in 4 Hi but backed off at 140 KPH (85) when the tranny shifted top gear.

Overall, Happy So far Guys. Like taking to the Cam I imagine the computer will need to get used to it and when I finally get my Gears hoping to appreciate all my Mods working together at that point.

Greg, i didn't get a chance to check those two things for you yet Buddy but haven't Forgotten, just ran outta time and we have real sensative C02 sensors in that Bldg.

Pic of the Warmed Up Idle which is sittin steady at about 625 (I Guess)

2010-12-10151306-1.jpg

Finally: As for the Shifter Recce. I have some pics of the Interior I cleaned up and the underneath shifter cable, etc and will throw around some Ideas about what is next in that project on the other thread.
