So I have been busy all week and havent had time to do a compression check. I got a text yesterday saying that my appointment was today at the dealership for my airbags. I totally forgot about that so I threw the plugs back in and babied it to the dealership. Scary driving it around with a somewhat blown head gasket lol luckily I let it warm up good so no issue with misfires.

Got a new water pump. Mine was leaking! So far have had a water pump, thermostat put in and clamped the power steering return hose to stop the leaks. Seems to be worse the colder it gets!

Yeah same here I got mines now I just need the time to do it lol

So coming back from the dealership, the hvac top lights started to flash repeatedly. Thats totally fine, ill get it settled later. But then this morning I go to inspect the truck, THIS is sitting on the top of my hood.... 3e945c046b2a39324eaf3f3ee73d318e.jpg and its super noticeable because its just not paint, its a little dented as well. Im pissed as hell, and im talking to the shop manager Saturday morning. Not a good week for me :(

to start im curious what lights are flashing on the HVAC controls, thats a new one to me, and the dent in the hood, well if you wait to address it then they will say it was done afterwards, the longer you wait to talk to them the harder it will be to get them to take blame for what was done

Okay, guys. About to do my oil change. Do I need a new gasket or sealer for the drain plug? Also, how tight should it be? Torqued at all?

And another thing. I got curious and googled the lug nut torque specs and got varying answers. One says all the books say 95ft-lbs for 05 up, another says 100-130, others 100-135 or 140, some said exactly 130, 135, or 140, and others still, claimed to be running x number between 100 and 140ft-lbs with no issues.

When I got my tire fixed, they torqued them to 140, and when I took the wheels off today, they seemed pretty solidly on there. Whereas when I had them on at 136, they weren't too bad, but definitely still had to be cracked with the ***** bar.

So I need a definitive answer. My truck's an 05 and I can't afford to warp rotors.

((Btw, while the wheels were off for my suspension tweaks/fixes just now, I took pics of the rotors and pads for you guys' assessment.))

Nothing on the drain plug. Replace it if it looks bad but it probably won't. Mine is still the same 14 year old one and works fine.

You are going to need brakes soon, the pads are looking pretty thin but not on the wear indicators yet. When you start to hear the squealing from them, then they are really bad. I would advise you to replace pads and rotors at the same time. Don't bother having those rotors turned.

If you can't afford the brakes now, you could get by with cheap replacement brake pads to give you time to save for the new pads and rotors. Just slap them in there, they will still work fine.

I have been buying my rotors from brakeperformance.com. I use the dimpled and slotted rotors. They work very well but I don't like the brake pads they have. Get good ceramic pads for the new rotors from your local auto parts store.

I use 135ft/lbs for the wheels on my 2004.

Yeah I called them today, they tried to pull some ******** excuse saying that I did it because it has a hairline rust spot in it but the thing is I didnt and it was humid and even rained last night so the possibility of the rust showing up is very probable.

Okay, well, I took a trip to advanced for no reason, then. How long until my oil cools and collects? Got back at 3:45, currently 4:40. Went ~5 miles round trip and got up to operating temperature.

In other news, I fixed the camber and flipped the shackles around so I could get at the grease fittings. And since I got back from advanced, installed my moose mirrors. Both are fully functional. All I have to do now is clean them and adjust them.

Then it's time! :D

Been over an hour for sure. Gonna start some forearm gloves tho. Just in case.

Don’t you dare use gloves, it’s part of being a man. If you don’t burn your fingers alittle, you’re doing it wrong
