I spent Saturday afternoon/evening installing some upper camber/castor adjustment plates and torquing all the attachment points of my suspension. Back in August of last year I had new upper/lower control arms, steering rack, tie-rods, sway bar drop-links and bushings installed. Come to find, the shop didn't actually torque anything to spec. I think this has led to the weird rattles and erratic handling over bumps I have been experiencing.

I took the instrument cluster out to test my new replacement cluster. Luckily power locks did work with the new cluster, so I don’t have to go chasing down missing wiring or anything. Took it back out because 1. The mileage is wrong and I need to send it off to get adjusted 2. The tach needle was reversed, a common problem I guess and 3. I’m going to get a custom gauge face to put in it. It was still pretty nice to get power locks working for awhile though

Also worked on my weather stripping since it was in bad shape. I added 3/8” backer rod behind the top to help push it further out, and ran some backer rod inside some torn weather stripping, and covered the tears with some flex tape (which is amazing stuff for rubber seal repair btw). I’ve only hit 20 MPH headwinds as of now but the wind noise is all but gone. Next few days are supposed to be windy so I’ll be able to really test the noise. If I’m lucky I can actually have a decent conversation in the truck without having to yell lol

New gears are in. 4.56s and a detroit trutrac. I’m trying to stick to the break-in procedure so I’m not going too fast yet, but even at lower speeds it feels soo much better. The V6 can finally pull the truck without too much of a struggle lol

I set the gains on the new amps. My left calf was kind of numb when I got done. Clarity rules. I hear people drive by 10 times a day with their audio cranked and all you hear is distortion. Not this. Deafening clarity. It's amazing how loud, but not harsh, music can be. I'll need to be careful.

Relatively a noobe here, but here is my truck. In the last 2 weeks, I've had the rear diff completely rebuilt and the rusted.. smashed up (from previous owner) bed changed to an aluminum flatbed. Not a beauty queen, but she has come a long way since I acquired her last September.... '08 1500 5.7 Hemi 4wd....

I got stopped short with just a few loose ends around firewall from lifting the cab off my back broke frame and got the first 3 parts installed on my new frame. By next weekend she will be rolling solid once again. If you can catch some extra sleep for me I would appreciate it.

Last night I decided to try something out in the name of research and development. I have probably 40 different radiator fan assemblies from various model Mopar vehicles. I decided to do an electric fan conversion on my 2004 Ram 1500 QCSB with a 5.7 HEMI. After removing the clutch fan and fan shroud from my radiator I took some measurements from my Mishimoto stock replacement radiator and then compared them to my plethora of fan assemblies. I came across a fan assembly that was the exact width of the 2003-2008 DR radiator and it was a single 16" fan and shroud from a 2015-2017 Jeep Renegade. There is only a 2.0" height difference between the two radiators too. The lower fan shroud mounts that slide into the saddles on the DR radiator line up perfect. The only modifications I had to make to the lower fan shroud mounts was shortening the height of the tab to make the shroud sit lower on the radiator and make the top lip sit flat on top of the radiator core. The top mounts of the shroud did not line up as expected so I cut them off. I utilized the current holes in the top of the radiator core and drilled a pair of matching holes in the shroud. I installed a pair of studs in the holes and used lock washers and Nyloc nuts to secure the fan assembly to my radiator.

I already run a pair of Spal 10" electric fans for the condenser. I replaced the stock condenser fan motor three times in a two month period so a few months ago I modified the condenser fan shroud to accept one of the Spal 10" fans that is traditionally a "puller" fan like the stock fan. I then mounted the other Spal 10" fan on the front side of the condenser and have it set up as a "pusher" fan. Since I already had these Spal fans wired into the factory condenser fan wiring it was really easy to wire the fan to come on with the A/C.

To control the fan I installed a Hayden #3647 fan controller that is adjustable from 150°-240°. I set the fan controller to turn the fan on at 165°. After completing the installation I took some temperature measurements under the hood and found the overall underhood temps were 20° lower and the engine temps at idle were 22° cooler as well so I call that a success. Here are a few pics of the install...IMG_20210527_162559__01.jpgIMG_20210527_165303.jpg

This was my 2004. HO 6spd
I had 185,000 mile on it when I sold it.
Original clutch.
Only issues I ever had was it would eat up front u-joints. That always turned into new front wheel bearings because I could never get them out. Always had to cut the ball joints and cut the bearings out.
Only one set of brakes it’s entire life. 20 MPG consistently

RFE.....????
RFE is the acronym for Rear Fully Electronic. The automatic transmission in all of our Ram Trucks used this unit in almost every single truck from 2002-2014 in the Ram 1500 and 2003-Current in the 2500/3500. There are only a few exceptions where the 45/545RFE was not used and that was in the 2002-2003 Ram 1500 with a 5.9 Magnum because they still used the 46RE. The 2500/3500 trucks with a 5.9 Cummins used the 48RE from 2003-2007 until the introduction of the 68RFE. In 2012 Chrysler released the 65RFE for the 1500's and the 66RFE for the Power Wagon. Also, alot of the Ram 2500/3500 trucks use the AISIN AS68RC and the AS69RC.
